Up above is my designs for Sarabi's parents. I gave them features similar to Sarabi, but also gave them some unusual features as well, like the lionesses' hair tuft. The lioness is Ushujaa, and the lion is Mkali.
MKALI - "Fierce" - Mkali was born during the Great Drought, which happened around the time Uru and Ahadi were born. He was born into a small pride little outside of the Pridelands, and was ruled by a hateful king named Joto, along with his loyal mate, Wimbi. Both lions cared less about the safety and protection of their fellow lions, and cared only for themselves. Mkali's mother was very sick and old, and his father was Joto, because there were no other males in the pride at the time. Mkali was always curious about things, and loved to learn. He wanted to be a king one day, but that day would probably never come, as he figured. He loved to explore, especially in another territory, as his was always dry and boring. As time went by, Mkali grew into a handsome young male. One day, he overheard his parents talk about something.
"Have a safe journey," Ghali, mother of Mkali said.
"Don't worry, we'll make it back soon." Wimbi replied.
"Where are you guys going?" Mkali asked, revealing himself.
"We are going to a war. I need to help my half brother win his territory back." Joto replied with a stern face.
"Please let me come!" Mkali insisted, "I have been waiting for years to be able to help you!"
Joto sighed deeply, "Fine. You may come, but must act as loyal to me as possible. Do you understand?"
"Yes, I understand."
Together, the lions and the lioness raced to the Pride Lands, which at that point were ruled by Mohatu. However, these Pride Lands weren't the ones we are used to seeing, the Pride Lands back then were dry, and looked as if animals had wrecked the place. Mohatu crouched low to the ground, crawling to his new allies. Hyena's laughter echoed in the background. Mohatu revealed himself to them once he was in front of Joto, and signaled for his lionesses and Joto's family to come to Pride Rock. They lined themselves up in front of Pride Rock, and then a group of hyenas did the same, but lined themselves on the other side. The lions brawled with the dogs, and eventually won Mohatu's kingdom back for good. But one hyena did remain. Her name was Shaka, and was the leader of the hyenas. With a clash of his paw, Mkali sent her flying. Mohatu invited Joto, Wimbi, and Mkali to live with him, but they wouldn't accept. However, Mkali did. Joto just shook his head and left, with Wimbi following close behind.
As time went by, Mkali had learned the customs of the Pride Landers, and had met a beautiful female named Ushajaa. They became friends, best friends, and finally mates. Their first cubs were Naanda and Sarabi.
USHAJAA - "Bravery" - Ushajaa was originally a Pridelander, and had become a medicine lioness for the pride. She had always loved the feeling of helping others, but she was also quite stubborn. She had eventually went on to help other prides as a teen, and went to many other places. When she came back, she met Mkali, who seemed like the perfect guy for her. They slowly became mates, and she gave birth to his first litter, Naanda and Sarabi.
